Hello Geekhackers,

I have decided to downsize my collection of keycaps. All of these items are in brand new condition as I never really used any of this stuff. In order to get stuff shipped for a fair price I'll ask for shipping separately once I know where the stuff is heading. I won a lot of Edsyn Soldapullt's (AS196) on the 'Bay and I really don't need all of them so I'll be selling a few as part of this sale. These are brand new in the package and are (IMO) the best soldering pump on the market. I'll be updating the forum as things are sold so it hopefully won't get confusing. All prices are in USD. Feel free to ask any questions here or PM me. Thanks for looking. Hopefully I'll have a chance to photograph the other items this weekend.

Sanctuary Keyset (Base set + Tsangan kit + Extras) - $100

Cream Cheese and Green (Base set + Tsangan kit) - $120

Ragnorock Red on Black (Base set + Tsangan kit) - $100 (sorry about the picture, this thing does not photograph well)

Who are the OEMS of those RGBY sets and how thick are they?

And, not to be that guy, but since you got them on eBay, are you sure those are genuine Edsyn Soldapults?  I know mkawa has mentioned there are a lot of fakes on eBay.

both his RGB/Y are from SP. so, standard SP ABS thickness.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

That fills me with sorrow.  I thought the second set was SP, but didn't know about the first.

The Soldapullts are real I'll guarantee them as I have been using one of them non stop for the past year. The RGBY's are SP manufactured and purchased from past GH group buys.

the AS196 label print is suspiciously even and dark (i've seen those printer dies and most of them are in pretty sorry shape), and they look kind of gold in your picture (they should be very very silver), but the ultimate determinant is the pump itself. i know the ds017 we saw in the soldering thread, from the internals, was hilariously fake, and it did have correct packaging except for the suspiciously dark DS017 label, but i'm hesitant to call those fake from that pic. it's annoyingly difficult to do the silver plating process and i kind of have a hard time believing that any of the many cloning factories would bother with the AS196 when they could just sell DS017 fakes for the same margin.

i'm happy to help anyone who buys one to convert it to a GH soldapullt :D

the only weird thing about the silver ones is that the metal plating actually makes it harder to get a seal at the junction between the plated barrel and the tip. it's just a weird tolerance stackup thing. that said, the silver looks really good. bwa!'

actually, when i first started talking to edsynnick about carrying these, we were thinking of making it possible to customize the color of every part of your soldapullt, but it ended up being too much of a pain to sell the parts alone. that is why i have so many soldapullts sitting around the lab with mismatched parts though. hah!

Would you guys feel better with some more pics to put the 'fake soldapullt' thing to bed? They are real. They aren't gold, that's just lighting from my lamp (they are very reflective).

Sorry, didn't mean to open a can of worms, just wanted to make sure.

Oh, and could you specify shipped or plus shipping?

No worries. It's better if people feel they can ask me stuff. I'll be charging shipping separately. I know it's a little unorthodox but it's easier to get an accurate figure once I know what's heading where.

you need to add some photos of the pullts and the cap sets with data, name, etc. information anyway. i suggest you go ahead and do this. frankly, there _are_ a ton of fake soldapullts and clones out there, so any doubt it not baseless.

Sounds fine, I've added some pictures. I'll get the other ones (including the soldapullt's) up shortly. I didn't realize the pictures with info were mandatory (sorry!). This has changed since I was a regular geekhacker and another mod pointed it out to me via PM earlier. I'm guessing these are measures to rid the forum of takakis and changdrews so I'm on board.

If you ever decide to split up the rag set I'd possibly be interested in the tsangan kit depending on price and shipping cost.

Well, I asked people on the 'What's it worth' thread and was ignored. I really have no idea what they fetch as far as market value is concerned. Thanks for trolling my thread tho.

I wouldn't call it trolling, but $10-15 is probably all you could get for them.  Whole TG3s usually go for $25 or so shipped on eBay.

The comment serves no purpose at all other than to annoy me. That's pretty much the definition of trolling. I forgot how miserable and petty geekhackers are. The minute I put this thread up I was accused of selling fake goods. I'd say roughly 80% of GHers are trolls. Fortunately for the community the other 20% keep it together. If the caps are too expensive don't buy them. End of story.

Mod Edit:  Thread cleaned up a bit, please be civil or it will be locked.  Regardless of the tone, other users are simply trying to offer help and advice.

You weren't accused of knowingly selling fake goods.  It was legitimate concern because there are a ton of fakes floating around on eBay.  Asking if you're certain the Soldapults are legit is a perfectly valid question.

And while the way the initial comment on the caps was made was unwarranted, it is a valid complaint since TG3s can be found dirt cheap.

call it trolling, never mind. I call it hint for an overpriced item. I did nothing to offended you in any way nor I say you are selling fake goods.

I wonder if "asking in the worth...." thread is all you do for research? It's a well known board and ebay is full of it.
You could search classifieds section too.  Beside your thread the 3rd match is $15 for a TG3.
BTW: what did you pay for the caps/boards?

Just to put this into perspective, I paid $35 for a set of TG3 keycaps including shipping from the US to The Netherlands this last October.

They are nice caps though.
