Need help opening PLU keyboard
« on: Wed, 07 May 2014, 11:09:08 »
never mind. it's done. The sides were very tight, but I forced a knife in and found that they're held together by two additional clips.

quite a lot of internal damage on the casing now. lots of plastic has been gouged out.

now you guys understand why I never sell keyboards (except those on which no modding attempt has been made).

Sigh, sigh.

Again I have run into modding problems.

I can't open my PLU TKL keyboard.

Yes, I've seen Ripster's guide, CeeSA's video on youtube, and a third video. These guys make it look easy. I come in with multiple knives, screwdrivers, several credit cards - and after nearly an hour I still can't open the keyboard. Seriously!

IN the meantime the casing has taken some damage from being scratched. At the rate I'm going, might as well just saw the casing open and get a new top case from Mkawa.

Is it just me, or is PLU unusual? I have identified 4 tabs at the top and 4 tabs at the bottom, but opening all of them doesn't seem to work. Are there special hooks on the side as well? I noticed the sides refused to budge. Or hidden screws (apart from the single one under the warranty sticker)?

Most of the modding can be done on your own once you break through the psychological barriers.

Clips are a pain in the ass. I wish more keyboards were like my Noppoo Tank and had everything held together entirely by screws...it makes opening the thing so much easier and less stressful.

the reason to have clips is to avoid the use of screws (ie spend less money on metal)
