Question regarding switch modding on WASDv2
« on: Sun, 11 May 2014, 01:41:16 »
Hey friends, I am not experienced with stem/spring swapping, but I know enough to realize the difference between PCB and plate-mount in terms of simplicity. I just got my custom WASDv2 this month and saw some conflicting information here on GH about whether it uses an "easy access plate" or not. When I took off a couple keycaps to try and look for myself it seems like there's a small area underneath the switch and most of the switch is exposed.

Is it possible to swap stems/springs on this board without soldering? Already shipped my plate mounted Filco off for a modding/lubing service and don't want to do the same with this board!

Unfortunately, I do not believe the V2 has a mod friendly plate. I can tell you for certain on Monday.

looking at the picture on their website, I believe it has a standard plate.

I am pretty sure they wanted to include this feature but were ultimately unable.
