They actually make some pretty great PSU offerings (okay technically they're not making them... but they picked good ones to rebrand! Those supernovas are beast as fk, ask jonnyguru; yes, there was a production line problem, but they handled it satisfactorily, imo... only thing better is the prohibitively expensive antec platinum line, and that's not enough better to justify the price of antec HCP platinum over seasonic and... well i forgot the other one, but there was another really good brand, based on the same design and hardware, made by the same factory iirc, as seasonic and evga's supernovas... it might have been the top tier CM or TT...).
I agree, the evga mech keyboard pictured above, looks... well, it looks crap. People complained about the flashy neon orange on the g710+ (and look at all the orange and gray on GH...), but i never had a problem with it. That space bar looks absurd, and the rest of the board looks like it's trying to be the g710+. Weird extra keys near the arrow cluster... my mouse hand is too occupied to use arrow keys, and everyone hates "keyboard turners." Turning is why we have mice! (and for hyper-clickers like diablo...) L2strafe! (why is that not triggering spell check underline? lol... "L2strafe" is apparently a valid dictionary term
).
That said, i actually do like the corsair k-series, at least for looks. Exposed plate design is nice.
I want to see a fully programmable, multi-layer, nkro, cherry RGB 60% w/ a tiny spacebar and all 1.25 mods. Could have like 3 more of them at least. When typing, i only need about 2 units worth of space bar. The rest is just in the way, pushing useful keys too far away to comfortably reach with my thumb, which requires an uncomfortable (and probably detrimental) wrist contortion, in order to access alt, and an immaculately manicured pinky-fingernail (to the quick), to reliably hit ctrl. And when not typing, but playing any game where space is used, my left thumb rests almost dead center of space bar, and could comfortably adjust further to the right.
Idk. I think the age of the excessive space bar should come to a natural conclusion, and we should populate the newly gained space with useful functions, or just generic triggers to map whatever we want. No need for giant space bar.
One thing i learned from the g710+: if you're going to add macro keys, go all out. A single column of macro keys "feels weird," and thus, i don't use mine as much as i would have liked. I currently use them for windows shortcuts, more than anything else. G1 = Mail, G2 = browser, G3 = calculator, and i've been thinking of putting Paint on G4 (for ease of printscreen/paste-into-paint... but i have a feeling there's an easier way i haven't found yet, mostly because it's just not that important). Another thing: my left hand is already doing more than enough in any game i play (and i haven't been gaming lately). Adding an extra column of macro keys just doesn't seem to work out very well in my case, though it has proven quite useful in certain situations. I think i'd be much more comfortable with it if i had 3 columns, like the k95 and non-mech logi g19 (or was that the g15...) That way, i could map everything to that bundle and not have to move my hand much at all. But MAN that thing is WIDE... and i think i'd prefer a 60% w/ an orbweaver (better yet, something non-Razer that doesn't require any cloud-interaction in order to function), or perhaps some other type of left hand input thing. Then again, i feel like i'm getting too old to care that much about competitive gaming. It's supposed to be fun, and as soon as it starts feeling like Work, i stop enjoying it... which means no need for excess peripherals! Maybe i should quit gaming and sell my rig, and replace it with something that uses almost no electricity... maybe a solar powered Rasp Pi with a touch screen, mounted atop/near/in/around a custom 60% case... or an intel mini. Or... meh, it's all such a hassle. Maybe i'll just not deal with it.
I wonder... does this keyboard qualify for EVGA's trade-up program?
(are they still doing that?)
