Help to diagnosticate problem on Unitek k-156
« on: Fri, 20 June 2014, 17:20:09 »
Hi everyone,

I found this UNITEK k-156 with Cherry MX black switches a few days ago and I want to use it. Today I managed to try the keyboard using a DIN to PS/2 connector, and PS/2 to USB, this one to be more precise:
 http://www.clickykeyboard.com/_ebay/modelm_usb/modelm_usb-001.jpg .

What happens is when I connect the keyboard the caps lock, num lock, scroll lock lights turn on and immediately after they stay constantly with a slight light, the following video shows the effect:

After this the keyboard doesn't detect any key action.

I measured the voltage at the entry of the keyboard and appears to be with normal values, ~4.85V.
What could it be? It is something related with the connection I made with the DIN and the USB adapter?

Any suggestion?
Thanks.

It was the cable, for some reason the original cable is broken somewhere. The strange thing is that, I get signal in the correspondent ends of the wires, but when I connect the cable I just have the behavior that I demonstrate in the video above. I changed to another DIN cable and now works like a charm.
