Now that I have one... I have taken it apart to discover that it was infact made by Cherry. This really surprised me since it is so odd. Then I saw it was made at the Waukegan IL plant from the internal model number sticker and it made more sense since they seemed to have made a lot of weird stuff. Model number is BXN5-C651. I had intended to remove all the switches and scrap the rest... now I might have to see if I can do something with it. Switches are still coming out to put in something else though. I think I have a plate that will fit it that uses normal Cherry plate mount stabs so I might have a go at that.

If it makes you feel any better I have so far failed using it with a soarer converter.

Oh yeah... I forgot about that other model. It is indeed almost identical save for the area on the PCB around the controller is much less complex here. And of course the switches are far more interesting on this model.
