My name is Tove, I'm 18 years old and come from Slovenia.
The reason I have come here is becouse I wish to build an interface for an old IBM keyboard to work on my modern PC. If I decide to get one that is.
But before that I would like to ask if anyone here has ever attempted to convert an IBM Selectric II typewritter to a keyboard? I have seen pictures of hobbyists from the 70's doing theese things. But they had to put microswitches in it and everything. I would love to do that but I need some help /: I did see one for sale near me that's why I'm so curious if this can be done. Otherwise I'll just buy an old IBM keyboard. P: The only 'good' keyboard I have currently is an IBM KB-8926. It's already a rubber dome keyboard but still feels great.
I'd also love to learn blind typing but have yet to discover a multi lingual tutorial for my QWERTZ yugoslavian layout. If Anyone knows a tutorial like that please let me know.

It's a lot easier to convert a Model M keyboard to USB than to convert a Selectric to USB.

Welcome to Geekhack!

I'd concur that an ordinary Model M, either with a PS/2 to USB adaptor, or one of orihalcon's SDL to USB cables, would be by far the easiest route.

But if you want an interesting project, I seem to recall that the Selectric is mentioned every now and again on GH - maybe try searching to see what people have been discussing.
