Greetings from the Netherlands! (and a small question)
« on: Sat, 13 September 2014, 13:44:23 »
Hey guys!

i have been looking around on this forum and it opened my eyes to the keyboards.
I'm am some1 who like to play a lot of games and found out that i need a new keyboard. For now i use the logitech g15 v1. but that keyboard is huge and i was looking for a smaller one so i went to the local store and ofc. found the standart gaming keyboards. (razer, logitech, steelseries and roccad.) when i checked them out i saw that most of them were mechanical keyboards and they felt pretty good. but still i wanted a smaller keyboard so i went checking out online. I thought by myself maybe i can make a keyboard of my own! so i found on youtube the video from whitefiredragon about the phantom. i searched some info about it and came on this site.

I'm a big noob in the keyboard scene but i hope to get some info here. My mind was set to upgrade all my stuff from my computer because most of the hardware is outdated and next week im finishing my school and then i finely can find a job. the first thing im going to upgrade is my keyboard but i don't know what would be a great keyboard to buy first.

i'm thinking of buying a ducky shine 3 withoud the numpad, or a QFR? i also travel a lot to friends who always have a laptop for me so i think i will buy a poker 2 also :P

what would u suggest me?

ducky shine 3 or QFR?

Depends on your budget. If you want to stretch to the Ducky, then buy the Ducky. The build quality is great, and the backlighting customization is fantastic as well if that's what you want. I'm assuming you want the Ducky over something else because of the ease of getting it in ISO configuration?

The QFR is not a bad board though.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

well my budget will be around the price of the ducky. and thought it was a great gaming keyboard. because that is the thing i will do most with it. and i saw a lot of QFR things on the forum so i was just curious because it is a lot cheaper but my budget will be around the 150 euro.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Do you ant backlighting?  If yes, Ducky Shine.  If no, QFR.  Both are great keyboards :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
