New guy. needing some assistance :)
« on: Wed, 15 October 2014, 14:46:42 »
I've been looking around for 2 weeks in search for my first mechanical keyboard and finally decided on the Keycool 87 with MX Clears. If anyone knows where I can buy one from, I'll be forever grateful.

Thanks.

I'm not sure you are going to find one of those readily available. You would most likely have to either buy some keycool 87 model and swap out the switches for clears OR find someone here who has one and wants to sell it.

What makes you want the keycool versus other boards?

Welcome to Geekhack!

Given that recent KeyCools have Kailh switches, you're probably looking for an older KeyCool, maybe on the secondhand market.

Or you could potentially buy one with any switches, and swap to clear switches (depending on your soldering skills).

As SpAmRaY asked, is there any particular reason why you chose KeyCool?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
