Leitch Video editing G81 $50GBP shipped
« on: Sun, 02 November 2014, 00:54:58 »
Great deal if you're in the UK, expensive elsewhere.  I really wanted this, but it would be ~$160 to get it stateside, which is far too much.  It's a cool deal for someone in the UK though.  I sent it off to a couple people, but it looks like they didn't want it.  It appears to be a mix of thin and thick dyesub and maybe some doubleshots.

There's also this unknown one that may be BS or may be Keytronic.

The little tabs in the light panel area are a diagnostic for Keytronic.  I think they used a card there, and IBM or Unicomp use an adhesive label.

Spotted this the other day and asked for some more pictures and they never got back to me. They both look the same to me, how can you tell the difference?

I saw one of these on the US eBay a while back. Now that I know you're looking, I'll keep an eye out as well. It was cheaper than this, IIRC.

Also, keytronic keyboards are a staple of video editing KBs. When in doubt It's probably a keytronic.

The label where your LEDs for Scroll, Caps, and Num Lock are different, the key cap profile is different, the stepped caps lock has a different length step, the case shape is a little different, the fonts and icons on the caps are a little different (winkey is completely different), a bunch of little things like that.

If it makes you feels better, I glanced at the probably Keytronic one at first and thought it was the G81 version.

Thanks man.

And I've noticed that with video editing keyboards.  There are a ton of Keytronics and some other random rubber domes.  Every now and then you get surprised with MX, Alps, or some other mechanical switch though.

There are also these Fastrack G81-8??? you might keep an eye out for, it has more colorful keys but more are infilled rather than dyesub...

Also on the Leitch a good deal of the keys are only standard lasered key, and the white legends keys are infilled too.

Yeah, I saw one of those Fastracks on eBay, but it was way way overpriced.

Thanks for the info. I didn't notice the second picture on the ad so i was only comparing the close up shot which doesn't help  :))
Might have to put a cheeky offer in although it looks like someone has beat me to it
