I strip old hard drives down (ewaste discards)

- Cases are aluminum alloy - melt down (look on youtube for how-to make a mini forge, and on thingiverse for mostly printed cnc multitool)
- Magnets go into a pile for reuse (put on back of 3d printed items)
- pcb's get thrown into a pile for resale on fleabay (data recovery)
- Platters - have not started using these

I am thinking of making custom cubical mirrors (workplace item to hang on the wall so you see someone walk up behind you ~ think working w/ headphones on)

I do 3d printing, and thinking about a circular frame (for the platters) w/ a plumeria flower in the center hole w/ mount for cubical wall.  Ladies at work love them.

I am building a mini-forge for melting down the hdd frames into ingots for reuse (sandcasting), and a cnc multitool for finishing work.

Make a device to shoot the platters. Would be useful in the zombie apocalypse.

BTW do you have any older DDR3?  I have an old X58 that needs some...
I'm back.

Make a platter wall clock like the brake rotor clocks.  I know everyone on this site and many others would love those.

I've started using platters as coasters.

They look way better than an old CD, and I hope won't deteriorate with age as CDs do.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I like the idea of a keychain. I have some old laptop ram, I think I may make one now  :thumb:
