Poker 2 question
« on: Wed, 21 January 2015, 15:02:34 »
Hi -

I am seeing boards that have backlights and some that don't. It isn't usually reflected in the price though, but that could by my chinese (I use the translate button)
Are those DIY leds? Or do those leds come from the manufacturer?

I'm looking at Taobao  because they seem to offer a vast number of boards, to me it seems to be keyboard heaven.
One of the things I noticed is that the boards are quite cheap and some suppliers even offer free shipping.

Also does anyone have experience with these caps, they look awesome and just what I need:

The Poker II can come with or without backlight. Those LED caps work good enough, as long as you intend to use them on thin caps. They do dim the backlight a bit, and work best with white LEDs.

Pretty sure that even the non backlit poker II uses the same PCB as the backlit one, so you can solder some LEDs in.  Not sure how resistors work for that PCB.

Yes the Poker II comes with the ability to install LEDs yourself, if they were not installed by the manufacturer.

if you're using those LED changers then you have to use ABS keycaps (assuming you want backlit-compatible keycaps) because the only PBT backlight keycaps i know of are the Vortex PBT+POM ones (not including deck) and they don't work with those keycaps
they're not at all worth buying/using if you want to have the lighting shine through the letters as you need to use inferiour keycaps
