Okay, just changed my order to 800 blacks, seeing as they will most likely hit the 0.16 price point. :D

Proposal:

Drop brown and reds, and ask people to join blues, blacks and clears instead. This may take the three colors over 20k.
Well, browns I couldn't really justify dropping. Reds on the other hand is always a possibility since those would have to end up being vendor bought anyway for around $0.30-0.35

To drop one color at least may help the other four to reach 20k easily, but I think that should be done soon.

So why is everyone ordering clears?  They're basically unusable without a spring swap. And if you have to swap springs, why not just get Browns??

I like them for the aesthetics. My current setup is Clears for alphas and linears for modifiers. With Gateron clears I can use this setup and have both switch types in the same color, just have to put mx clears in the Gateron switch housing.  ;D

assuming both switches are lubed and have the same spring weight, would there be much difference between black and clear?

hold up hold up hold up. Why isn't there more interest in Browns? Isn't it essentially smoother ergo clears? Unless i'm reading the reviews wrongly.

This GB is going to be an historic success. Discrete MX switches rock, and their Gatorade clones too. Prepare your irons pals.

Yep. I'm not sure what you mean by switch quota

Was supposed to write "on a per switch quota", as in if Clears hit 20k thef drop to 0.16, but if Browns don't they stay at 0.26?

Anyway I have changed my order, you can delete the first one I put in. :)

Now the democratization of MX switches has just begun. GH members will enjoy the freedom to try as many switch types as they want, all they need is a hot iron.

Just a heads up for everyone. I don't know if this affects anyone's decision on whether or not to buy these switches.

I built my JD45 prototype with Gateron blacks this weekend. Sorry, no pics yet. The Gateron blacks are very smooth, with no gritty feeling like MX switches have when new and stock. The stiffness of the springs in the blacks feels like a 67-68g Korean spring. If you like linears, but want just a touch lighter than stock MX blacks, these are a great option to use stock, with NO LUBING OR SPRING SWAPPING REQUIRED.

Also, the PCB mount pins on the underside of the switch housing DO NOT REQUIRE MODIFICATION TO USE WITH PCB MOUNT HOLES IN A PCB. They require just a bit more force to install into the holes than a standard MX switch, but once you push them in, they are VERY SECURE. If you pull the switch out and re-seat it, it feels just like a stock MX switch with regard to tightness of the PCB mount pins. There are little "micro fins" on the PCB mount pins of the Gaterons which help secure the switch even more tightly than an MX switch the first time it is installed in a PCB. Once these are compressed and pulled out, they are basically at Cherry spec, so they should be the same as new stock MX switches.

I was skeptical at first, of using a "clone" switch in place of my trusty MX switches. But I am buying these with no hesitation to use in all my future builds. If I could afford to buy 5,000 of them at once, that's how many I would buy.

BUY THESE SWITCHES.

This is good to know.

Now I need to put cherry mx clear stems in my the gateron housings I have and see how they feel.

Just a heads up for everyone. I don't know if this affects anyone's decision on whether or not to buy these switches.

This sounds like sourcing "old blacks".
