Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

Speak to 7bit and get some Matias switches in there ;).

I'm not de-soldering Alps ever  :p I cursed every minute I did that, and I like black Alps :)

Here is a photo with the plate. The center mount hole is unusable, the Alps switches are too wide and I don't have enough clearance to insert the screw, but it doesn't matter, it's very stable and the Dell plate adds some healthy weight to the keyboard.

Now a stupid question about the firmware, what loader should I use for this controller ? It works like for Teensy or should be something else ?
And how do I put it in programming mode, I saw the push button on the back, is there a sequence ? Like push 5s insert usb and stuff like that ?
For the keymap I'm all good, code is something I understand  :p

1: Insert keyboard to PC. 2: Press button (no need to hold). 3: Flash firmware. :) I think it works exactly as a Teensy (never used one)

Thanks for posting pic of dell plate.

To enter the program mode push the button on bottom.

And my favorite program utility is 'dfu-programmer' but FLIP also can be used if you are on Windows.

I'll add easy instruction on the first post for this things later.

Second day of typing on the Alps 60%, it feels so good. Now I have also my layout configured and it's perfect.

Made also a build log https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71714.0 maybe it will be useful to others. It was a fun project and I recommend you people start and build these boards  I want to see all 9 of them built  :thumb:

Ugh I keep forgetting to do great fits on my pure stock case and pure cnc case.

I think someone already did a test fit of the Poker case which is the same as the Pure case. But here is the PCB in the Pure CNC metal case.

Perfect fit!

Thanks, CPTBadAss!

No critical defect has been found so far and connector alignment seems to be also not big problem.
Second run will be done with exactly same design as the first run, I can use same stencil and this reduces cost a little.

Any sugestion on second run?

So far it seems very seamless. I'm waiting for a plate to come in so I can't suggest anything until I build the board right? But so far, it drops into both cases as you wanted just fine. I'm pretty happy with it as it is. Thanks for letting me into the first run :D

Seems Chinese Alps switches may look similar to Matias,   but internal parts differ, esp the sliders, contact leaf.

I'd prefer proven Matias than Chinese clones.  believe Matias got better QC.

The Clones' prices are even not better at all.    ::)

Might be time to start a new topic sprit ;)

And if there's no one else who can handle shipping, I could do so, though I won't be as fast as the Gateron buy.

On the plate note, soon.  They missed my e-mail and I got in touch with them yesterday to check on it.  Dropped of switches and stabs today so they can test fitment before making the full lot.

Might start When Hasu is ready for 2nd run of Alps PCB?    ;)

I guess US Proxy for Matias switches will be in charge of most of the shippings.  So he will manage the Invoices.
I may take a responsibility for the shipping Worldwide in June.
The Tracked Air shipping  for 100pcs switches (~250g packed) will be ~ $8,  200pcs(~500g packed) will be ~$10,   To Worldwide From Korea Post.

Really Appreciate for the organizing the Alps Plate GB !  ;)

The lowest Custom acrylic for Poker compatible PCBs    :   Model 3S  -  18mm thick,  the Plate top flushes with Case top (same as Tex acrylic)

Oh man, I am SO in for this if there is a 2nd round.
The Alps cover 65% of Switzerland's surface area (41,285 kmē), making it one of the most alpine countries. Despite the fact that Switzerland covers only 14% of the Alps total area (192,753 kmē),[2][3] many alpine four-thousanders (48 of 82) are located in the Swiss Alps and practically all of the remaining few are within 20 km of the country's border.

Soldered and programmed my board yesterday, so far everything works great with the PCB. The plate I modded for this is not pretty and might need further modding (I don't have a ISO enter to try my stabs). This is how it looks now, I really need the new caps Matias is working on :P
Show Image

Don't worry about my drawing on the keycaps, they are not great (from a rubber dome) and the ink rubs off with some effort.  ;D

I don't know why, but those hand drawn legends looks awesome to me.
It reminds me something out of my engineering lab in college.

I'm definitely doing that to one of mine.

Thanks so much for this idea!!  :thumb:

Don't worry about my drawing on the keycaps, they are not great (from a rubber dome) and the ink rubs off with some effort.  ;D

I don't know why, but those hand drawn legends looks awesome to me.
It reminds me something out of my engineering lab in college.

I'm definitely doing that to one of mine.

Thanks so much for this idea!!  :thumb:
Thanks, it basically is out of my engineering lab at my university :D. I might draw my own legends for the function-keys on the new set of keycaps as well. I'm planning white PBT's from Matias combined with these modifiers. I like the thought of blanks with only the legends for the function-layers :)

Yes I know exactly what you mean. There was a Multimedia Keys Granite add on that basically just had media icons on it that I really loved. Too bad I don't really like typing on DSA.

Rev.A users,
did anyone try other case? Currently PokerX and Pure CNC case were confirmed.
Aren't  there anyone with Poker 2 and Poker 3 case to try the PCB?
In particular Poker 3 has no tolerance on its connector hole, so I'd like to know if it can fit into the case.

From first post:
- Confirm case fitness
    - Poker X original plastic case OK OK
    - Pure CNC metal OK
    - Poker 2
    - Poker 3
    - V60
    - Other custom cases

I started second round of this group buy quietly and taking orders now.
Target quantity is 20-30 boards in this round.Check the first post of this thread to order.

jevvix,
I just didn't want to cut, mark and sort out small SMT components.
OK. I can sell them for $10 if you have to get components from me. And Raw PCB costs $12.

A friend has a Poker 2 case, I'll try the PCB in it but I'm not sure when I will have the time to try it , will post results when done. I only have the Poker X case myself.
Edit:
Got a temporary ABS ISO-enter from Matias today and the placement of the switch seems to be placed a bit to far to the right. Will post image later tonight.

Updated order list in the first post, let me know if your order is missed in the list.

Around thirty boards are ordered so far and this number is already nice amount for second run.
But I'll open this more a few days in case that poeple are still missing this run.

Thanks

EDIT: Invoices are not sent yet. I will sent them with PM later, probably a days or two later.(Friday in JST)

This ISO enter keycap from Matias doesn't work with Rev.A PCB :(
Aren't any Rev.A user with other ISO enter keycap there?

I'll have to look into this problem closely.

I've got an ISO enter from a Dell at102w that I was going to use with mine, I can send it to someone to test it if needed. I'll need it back eventually though...

Hzza, it would be very helpful if you can take some photos of the Dell.

In particular I want to see how ISO enter switch is aligned there. All of keycaps around ISO enter area should be taken off.
I think pics taken from very straight above would be nice. And I want to see close up of  bottom of ISO enter keycap.

Applet, could you post pic of bottom of Matias keycap? I'd see its mount position.
