If it has a track pad, it's an ML board.  I think the 64s are all G80 boards, but some may be ML boards.

Most of them have G80-1813 keyboards, some later flexpac models used ML switch, and later still you have these awful things...

which you should steer far clear of.

Here is the best picture of it:

Definitely has mechanical switches.
Something else to note is that all boards of that model are MX blues. That is also the only model which uses mechanical switches.

This looks very much like the pictures of the G80-1813 keyboard on deskauthority's wiki.  It looks like a fun project can't wait to start collecting!
I hope you were able to get it.

Yes, that is a Dolch keyboard with Cherry MX switches. AFAIK, all Dolch PAC 64 should have them. It is Dolch PAC 65 that is known to have different types of keyboards.

There is more info on the Deskthority wiki.

Do save the computer case. If you don't want a vintage machine for retro gaming, you could probably build a nice LAN gaming box out of it.

Congratulations!

A lot of people would like one of these ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

If you're interested in "permanently" converting it to PS2, that can also be done quite easily, as you may have already figured out. (Soldering a cable straight to the PCB)
If you prefer the plug option though, that's good too.  :)

Congrats on the get! These are great boards.  :thumb:

I'm planning on using mine for my son to play with short-term (get dos working and teach him proper computing, and typing with Mario Teaches Typing).  Later, we'll mod it into a modern computer for him to use.
I'm back.
