For a piece of a acrylic this size, no, you are basically paying the materials, try and do this yourself and you will see

Have you checked the Tex low profile acrylic case? If you are looking for a low profile, I think that's what you need.

Ive been waiting for a full profile case, and really like my acrylic TEX case for its 'chameleon' effect of blending with whichever surface I place my keyboard onto.

What I would like to see (if possible) is the most minimal of cases, very much like the original poker case, but in clear.

so
1) Minimal height and,
2) Minimal wall thickness (3mm?)

(which seems to be what a number of people have also requested?)

I'm certainly interested if this is possible. If its as tall as it is now, that would be a deal breaker for me

Are you sure? I can get a similarly-sized aluminum case for cheaper in China, and I'm pretty sure aluminum is more expensive than acrylic.

Not complaining about OP's price at all. I just don't believe the quoted statement is accurate.

I guess the biggest cost involved with these types of cases would be the machining and finishing of the product, the raw materials won't influence very much the price if bought in bulk which I think OP might be doing, or OPs manufacturer.

Having said this i wouldn't doubt you could find it for cheaper in China.

Ah right, machining costs do add up, especially depending on where you're at. China has the advantages of both bulk manufacturing and low pay to keep products relatively cheap.
