1. appropriately name the subject of your personal message IE - question regarding hyperfuse gmk
2. if you have an order number, include it in the message
3. if this is part of a chain of correspondence, give a brief recap of the prior conversation, particularly if some time has passed
4. state clearly what you are asking or requesting
5. be polite

people running gbs, particularly large or multiple ones get spammed with messages, what may seem like a simple thing to you, may not be to someone else, particularly when they get 100 other requests

i cant tell you how many messages i get with no title that say something like

"any update"

"did you take care of that thing we discussed"

whilst your request may be fresh in your mind, and only from say a week ago, that person may have had literally 100's of messages since then, with similar requests, and tracing back through to find one or several messages regarding your request is a nightmare

and above all, be polite to people, for some reason, people think if they act self entitled, or be rude and threatening, somehow this is the quickest way to get what you want, but you would be surprised how much someone will bend over to help you if you are polite and understanding

Very good advice. It's sometimes hard for an organizer to go through all their PMs, and then remember what the issue is you are trying to address.

I think most people always think of the large group buy organizers as businesses when they are just community members helping community members.

Thanks for all you guys do.

Exactly this. I don't think people understand that [CTRL]ALT is not a business AT ALL. It's a group of friends who do stuff for the community for NO PROFIT.

This is actually really helpful, as sometimes it is difficult to find the right wording so you don't sound like an ass, but you still want the message to be short and to the point.

Bunny, would you mind if I stickied this in GB?

Excellent advise.  It seems to be something that's overlooked a lot, but is relatively easy to do and helps a ton.   :thumb:

yeah no problem man, if you wanna tidy it up a bit and make it look less like it was written by a child with severe learning difficulties that is also fine

Seems kinda sad we need to have a stickied guide as to how to be a pleasant person or forum user.

But I understand where you're coming from. People feel entitled and forget this is something GB runners do on the side while juggling families, careers, and other obligations.

As long as we don't turn it into a LMGTFY.

OK, I just saw this and donít take my response too seriously. GB organizers should be familiar with the tone of this message, since every GB will have at least one person who writes like thisÖ

Hey!

Is this a scam?

You havenít replied to my last two messages. I sent them 7pm and 8pm. Itís a Sunday so donít tell me you donít have time to write back!

You promised youíd get everything in the mail April 1st. Today is April 2nd and you havenít given us a status update for the past 7 days. Donít think Iíll let you off!

Iím not going to wait anymore. Massdrop is organizing a similar buy for $2 less. Itís not worth doing business with a cheat like you. Worst $35 I ever spent! You made your GB more expensive by getting that stupid geekhack key and ISO tsangan add ons for Euro losers. US ANSI is the way to go and if you don't agree you're a loser like them!

If you donít respond in 24 hours Iím going to file paypal complaint, and Iím also going to make a police report and post your personal details on reddit and deskauthority.

F you, F you, and F you again. This is the last time I ever participate in these scams. You stupid geeks are scambait!

Quote your messages.

This. It would also help if both sides use the quote button rather than the reply... Saves the hassle of tracking the message history.
