HELP!!! LED lead broke off in PCB hole!
« on: Fri, 03 April 2015, 21:52:56 »
So this is a total newbie mistake, and I'm embarrassed to be asking for help with it.

I was desoldering an LED in my caps lock of a keyboard I have assembled, and I suppose it was heated too much.  One lead and the main LED came out, but one lead was ripped from the main part and is now stuck in the PCB.  The switch is soldered in place, and although I don't want to, I could desolder it to fix it if need be.

Any other tips on fixing my stupid error?

I think you get it.  Here's a photo.  You can see the negative side is open through, and the lead is blocking the positive side.

yep, if you have pliers that are thin enough to get in there, just heat up the pad and lead, and pull it out

The problem is it's out far enough on the other side (the PCB side) that none of the lead is showing, and there is no solder left on the pad.  I'm incredibly frustrated by it.  Hahaha.
