It's actually pretty interesting to think about. I just realized that the Octagon was the first Duck board to have RGB underlighting (so they COULD reuse the PCB), and then the Orion v2 expanded on those features and brought in new design asthetics. Now it's tossing the ball back to the Octagon and the Octagon is taking the Orion v2's design aesthetics.
I think the original got its design from the original Orion, either that or the Lightsaver v2. It's all coming around again, haha.
I personally like the centered USB location. It's pretty unique.
I'm gonna miss the little name plate that the original Octagon had for the stickers.
Buuut, the rest makes up for it.
That's true too, since I have the original Octagon, I can always swap PCBs out for fun. That's a plus! I also agree with the indicators. I think they're innovative and different. Kinda harken back to old school keyboards, but they do look a little funny.
