I'm still a little confused by the R0 function row?  How will that work with the R1 prt screen, scroll lock,  and pause keys?

I assume that the function row will sort of stick out like a sore thumb.
Especially if this was used on something like a Lightsaver where the function keys are directly beside the other keys.

Darnit,  that was the exact board I wanted toto put this set on!  Why is the F row on R0? Is this normal?  I really should pay more attention!

When GMK sets are run almost no one uses r0.
I don't know what reasoning was behind this decision.

How will this set look on a Filco TKL with that r0?

So how locked in are orders? Does anyone have an order that needs to be taken over?

There should still be some sets available, because some people didn't pay their invoice.

See Ivan's last post for more information:

It will obviously stick out. My plan is to use Artisan caps on prt screen, scroll lock and pause to make it less visible.
If I don't like anyway, I will simply use this set on a 60% board  :thumb:

When GMK sets are run almost no one uses r0.
I don't know what reasoning was behind this decision.

The reason was novelty. Ivan hates to run ordinary sets, so he wanted to do something new.

Sucks that the molds are only available for ESC and F1-F12 though...

How will this set look on a Filco TKL with that r0?

It will look like on any other board. The height difference between the R0 and R1 keys will be pretty obvious I guess.

It's up to you if you can live with that inconsistency.

Actually I think it will look and feel great. If you think F row is in the typing area, having them on a slightly higher profile makes them easy to reach. On the other side you have the are that is less used Numpad and all the other stuff that is lower , so I think it will look and feel good.
And to be honest if we don't try it how will we ever know

One more thing, some of the profiles and legends haven't been produced since the 80's and I don't think this will be done again any time soon.

I  summon thee oh Great Elrick, bring some sense back into these non believers  >:D Let them feel the HYPE!!!

Sorry I haven't been on in a bit. I hurt my arm quite badly crashing on my BMX. Please don't worry, everything will get taken care of, but it may take me some time to respond to all of you.

As for the row F (0), as I stated before it's something a bit different, with the old 80's style that along with the text only modifiers legends hasn't been done for decades. Some people may find they really like it. Some may not... but there should be no problems with putting it on various keyboard models. Sure, the print/scroll/break is the row E because those molds in row F are lost. But, it should be OK and will be a plus for anyone that wants to use this on 1800 style.

OK,  I am hyped again,  looking at the Lightsaver images more,  it will be unique,  but could work.

For anyone worried about the R0 row functions and R1 print screen and such, there are three R0 windowed caps with the set which you can use to keep the height consistent.  I can say for myself that I'll use them to keep uniformity.  Also, R0 is actually how all top rows were in the old days with cherry boards, and it was stopped in order to save costs, so having an r0 row to ease the work for your fingers is actually a premium thing.  I'm going to use the set on a 75% board and it looks really much better to have that taller top row than to to have a a regular r1 row at the top.  Don't know how it looks on regular boards but I'd imagine it wouldn't be anything to worry about.

Loving this Key-set already because of it's superb fitment to an 1800 series keyboard, much thanks  :thumb: .

The 0 function row would be fantastic for a 75% board like my Octagon. Sadly though, the theme I have going for it won't fit for this set, and I can't justify another 75% right now, but it would be really ideal for a board with a compressed 75% layout in order to make distinction between the number row an the function row. :thumb:

Mµ is indeed cooler, it's also in a crowded area (,< .> etc.)

Yet the E_euro really takes away from the simplicity of the alphas

I don't hate it by the way, I just don't want it (Since this failed, I guess it's not as crucial to me as before: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=73551 - the side prints are likely there to stay, the euro might hang around too)

Actually, now that you mentioned E@, E_euro started seeming interesting too :)

I admit that I shouldn't have diluted the thread/GB at the GB stage, I decided to accept or silently-move-on from now on, my needs doesn't seem to align with the needs of the many and I just end up creating discussions and no results :)

On one hand I can understand you, for example I find ISO UK stupid, and other ISO layouts like ISO DE, useless characters are in the places where I would like to have the one that I really use. For example on ISO DE I have / on 7 not to mention | on AltGr layer how stupid is that?! , as a UNIX/Linux Admin I find that simply idiotic. That's why I use the ANSI US International layout, even when I write in German. I like the simplicity of the the ANSI look. So in some extend I can understand why you wish for a clean alpha cluster.

I ordered way more space bars than I needed..  And I don't even have a board that uses 7u.  Honestly not sure why I even bought them...  GMK mind control.  I will definitely be willing to part with some when I get them.

That's one of the usual symptoms of GB madness; but, this time it worked in my favor. Thank you, I will drop you a PM to be in your list of messages for the time when you got them at your door. I'd take over the part of your order that you do not need if that helps, we may figure out something with Ivan.

If someone wants to part his/her 7u space bar, when they were delivered, please PM-me. Thank you.

I ordered way more space bars than I needed..  And I don't even have a board that uses 7u.  Honestly not sure why I even bought them...  GMK mind control.  I will definitely be willing to part with some when I get them.
Same here on all counts. I don't understand why the 7u bar exists, much less why I bought them.

7u bars madness.

When you're down in Miami you always buy 7u's, because down there you buy the BIG stuff for shock and awe  8) .

When Mechanical boards ruled the earth, space bars were big and strong, they were the kings and queens of any layout; while they were very long ones, one particular size, the 7u ruled over most of the others. Minor species came after, more due to the trade off imposed by a particular key that forced her way into most keyboards, the windows key. However, there are still classic keyboard, that has not been affected by that windows illness, and that still show 7u's proudly. It even went into a very few and special 60 layouts. Sadly, it seems to be an endangered species of space bars, the weaker 6.25u's, victims of the window key, are surviving.

Who says you don't learn anything new each day, when you visit this place called Geekhack  ;) .

Ideus has spoken the TRUTH and let it be known forever more, that the humble and great 7u needs our support and care.  They need your help by donating to this caring Miami Nights Key-set, so that we can make sure there is a vital future for all 7u's that are made and released into the wilderness of Keyboards everywhere.

Down with the Windows Logo atrocity, we need more independence from that dreaded Redmond excrescence, hence show you care for the future of our 7u space bars and buy them  :thumb: .

Have the keycaps be moved to production?
