"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I haven't spent much on single keycaps :p

$3.... GMK Red ESC, although I have entered one of the Elite Keyboards Clack draw rounds. I ordered a $5 BSP Red ESC, but they were out of stock, so I got a refund.

Got my most valuable cap (Cinnn Iron man) in a giveaway (thank you Spamray!) and it holds pride of place on my ergo board. The only backlit cap on that board and the only artisan I own (so far). I will not pay above the artists' price for an artisan cap on principal (helps me limit my keyboard spending to new board parts and Group Buy keycap sets)...

I have spent a decent amount in a single keycap set Group buy, though, and way too much in total.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

Some people could tell tales of when GMK red Esc was one of the rarest and most desirable keycaps around, and sold for $250!

The third thing that comes up when searching geekhack is an overclock.net forum post about our insanity for that specific key and price.  :))
