Hello
« on: Mon, 08 June 2015, 15:22:12 »
Hello everyone I am new to posting at least, I have lurked on these forms for a bit. I love mechanical keyboards and all the different designs people come up with. I currently own a max keyboard Nighthawk X7 with Cherry MX Blue switches, I have had this for about 2 years. I am looking to build a custom keyboard. I think  I want to do clear switches because I like the blue but I don't like the noise from the clicking all the time and I think brown would be too soft for me. so many options its hard to choose.

Welcome to GH. Browns are pretty soft, but personally I prefer that over stiff clears.
I'm a huge fan of adventure time too. ;)

Welcome to Geekhack!

From your description it sounds like MX clears might suit you.  But then don't be surprised if you get the urge to try other switches too ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank You. Yes I think I have settled on getting clear switches for my next keyboard. The problem now is where to find clear switches that are in stock.

If you're looking for just the switches, there is a theead here about exactly that!
