Possible dead lightsaver?
« on: Sat, 13 June 2015, 22:51:38 »
So I unplugged my lightsaver to clean my desk.
I plugged it back in after I was done and...nothing.
No lights, no response.

Might there be anything i can do to resuscitate it?
i tried holding down the key above the backspace that makes it go into program mode and nothing.

Q.Q Help is appreciated.

Thanks

-Blacke

Did you reboot the computer? Do you have another computer to try it on?

Kind of related but my USB peripherals do goofy things like that, I've got one flash drive in particular that if I plug it in, it kills my keyboard until I reboot.

Try to plug it into a different computer to see if the same problem may happen.
If it does, you may need to figure out from the inside if the usb port has any problem.
Next step would be pcb, controller, rom memory, firmware problem...

I've got a keyboard that randomly plays dead, the solution is to plug it in slowly.  No idea why it works but it does so it's worth a try.

 :(

Plugged it into a laptop, nothing.
Took plate and pcb out and blasted it with air, nothing.
Put it back in the case, nothing.

Tried different usb cable on both pcs, nothing.

Do you see it listed under "Human Interface Devices" in your Device Manager in Windows when you plug it in? It should read "USB Input Device". If it does, I would look at reloading the firmware, if it doesn't, my first guess would be a bad connection at the usb connector on the pcb and/or cable the usb cable.

try to plug another keyboard and see if that works or try to plug it into another computer try to eliminate problems. i have a separate usb hub that overloads when i try to plug it back in.

One of my Duck boards has a really loose USB connector, so make sure it's actually making contact with the cable when you plug it in.

Ill try the device manager thing.

The lightsaver's connection is a tad loose...been that way since i got it though oO
I tried different pc usb port, and cable and on a laptop. nothing

EDIT: Unplugged my current kb and it listed one item less in HID devices. Plugged in the lightsaver..nothing...plugged the replacement, it populated. Q.Q
