raising caps

I have an Ergodox and would like to have some of the caps in the thumb cluster higher than the others. Other than buying different profile caps, is there any way to raise the cap?

That wouldn't actually add height to the cap, just shorten the distance it can travel.

I know that MX-Alps adaptors raise the caps a bit (though that's not the goal), but I was hoping there was an MX-MX version of that.

Get some of the MX switch from old TA/Royal typewriters like this


They have a 1mm riser built in on the stem.

Agreed those are gorgeous caps. On eBay those typewriters are typically about $60+ min. I'm not sure it's worth it just to raise a few caps. I guess I'll just have to buy some of the SA 1-space 10-packs from SP. It's a bit surprising that some sort of riser stem isn't available, even on Shapeways.

Those are linear basically like vintage black. Of course, you also get some really nice dyesubs or doubleshot keycap with those too depending on which model you can find. Look local too, on craiglist or whatever... you might be lucky and can find one cheap you can pick up instead of paying a lot for shipping from an ebay sale.

I won an auction on ebay a few weeks ago, but the seller won't ship it to me, after agreeing to ship only the caps, for the price of the typewriter :( I haven't paid, which is good, but I can't since I need the quote for the shipping to pay for it... :(
