Hello!
« on: Wed, 15 July 2015, 19:43:20 »
Hello. I've been lurking the past couple of months. I decided to create an account because I got to the point where I needed to start asking mod / hardware build questions.

My current project is a customized Goldtouch keypad. I've ripped out (most of) the PCB and used Enablers + a Teensy to make it programmable.

Hello & welcome. I also recently introduced myself here. My current project is a hand wired planck.

Nice. That's going to be my next project, I think. Once you get exposed to TMK, you want more of it. I think if I was going to build a Planck, I would opt for the PCB. Adding backlight doubles the number of wires you have to solder..

Hey guys!  As you probably know, you can make anything work how you want it to with enough time and effort. Be sure to post pictures and steps so other people can try stuff you have already figured out!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Make sure you take plenty of pictures along the way, and you are welcome to create a build log thread in making stuff together.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yea, I thought about that but I'm not going to be putting leds on the planck. Saving that for when I build an Atomic. And yes, I'll definitely be using a PCB for that one.
