Hi
« on: Thu, 16 July 2015, 02:16:43 »
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a long time lurker and finally registered, as I only recently switched to a mechanical keyboard. I previously never thought a keyboard could get me so enthusiastic, but I just love typing on it and now have the itching urge to customize it ;D

Great place and great information here. Thanks for that.

Cheers,
Maroder

Welcome to Geekhack!

It's amazing how deep the keyboard rabbit hole is when you start looking ;)

Which keyboard did you get?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I got the Pok3r ISO (DE) with MX Clears - loving it so far although I have to get used to having no arrow keys on the right side ;D

Haha, I'm already looking for the Granite keycap set. Never thought I would find plastic so exciting.

Solid switch choice and I just picked up a HHKB so I feel your pain in getting used to no arrow keys. I think everyone feels that same way about plastic here!

An excellent choice!

With just a little care, that keyboard should last you for many years :)

And it is a standard layout too, so keycap replacement should be a breeze.  That is, assuming it is standard ANSI layout, or maybe you got an ISO one?  ISO it a bit more difficult to find matching keysets as there are many ISO variations and not every keyset caters for every variation.
