The Realforce 87U doesn't use stabilizers except the spacebar.
No squeak, no rattle.
Pure butter.
I can confirm that the Realforce boards do in fact have stabilizers on everything bigger than 1.5u. They are inside the housing and they do tend to rattle when not lubed. I used some Krytox Extra Thick on the stabs of both of my Realforce boards and they are both dead silent now. I never had any squeaking form either of mine though.
I stand corrected. I had no idea that the plungers were somehow stabilized underneath the housing.
I'm quite curious how that works since the cap is only connected to the plunger. Stabilizers balance the load on the large keys by effectively pulling down on the opposite site of the cap that you are pushing down.
But in this case, all of the force goes through the center (plunger). There's nothing pulling down the other side, so what's being stabilized?
You can certainly see some flex in the large keys (except space bar) when you push on either side. It teeters a bit.
