CM Stealth vs. KUL 87 - MX Greens
« on: Thu, 13 August 2015, 10:50:14 »
Hello all, I couldn't find a comparison between the two boards in the title. A local store has the CM Stealth with MX greens for $70. I was looking at the KUL for some time. Any reason I should go for the KUL over the CM? I'm looking for a board I can game on mostly. It'll also be nice to have a standard layout for aftermarket keysets. It will not be transported about. It'll switch between this board and my FC660m for daily driving gaming and homework.

It'll also be my first MX green board. I have sampled the switch and want to give it a try.

I have a CM Storm with Browns and a KUL-87 with Clears, so that's where I'm coming from here.

Your big difference is going to be the stabilizers: CM uses Costar and KUL uses Cherry. Other small differences: the KUL is much more solid than the CM, but the KUL also pings like crazy (at least the MX Clear version does).

Frankly for most people it comes down to the stabilizers, some people feel Cherry's are mushy compared to Costar. Additionally, on the custom keyset front there are some issues with GMK and Costar (wires rub), and on my KUL I had issues with an SA set's spacebar sticking.

If you think you will take advantage of the ability to use DIP switches to go between 6- and n-key rollover, 125 and 1000Hz polling rates and different layouts, get the KUL. Otherwise, the CMStorm should suit you just fine. $70 for a keyboard with MX greens is a great price.

I had a CM QFS with greens that I liked very much, but I sold it and bought a CM QFS with browns, because I prefer a lighter switch without an add-on click. I've had two Kul boards: one with reds and one with clears. I sold both Kul boards, mainly because I didn't like the Cherry stabilizers. Now I have a WASD V2 87 with browns that I like a lot -- I got the "barebones" version, because I was going to put my own keycaps on it anyway. Customer service at WASDkeyboards is first-rate.

Much appreciated, gentlemen. I'll swing by the discount store and pick it up in a bit. I don't plan on using any of the KUL's extra features. WASD 87 was on my radar, but I really wanted a lower priced TKL with greens for a daily driver of sorts. Although I do want a backlit board, it's just not worth that much more to me. Besides, I see myself with a backlit Ducky Mini or Pok3r at some point :) I can imagine my Leopold FC660m with MX clears will still be the star of my collection (only keyboard currently), but it'll be nice to sample MX greens and have a standard keyboard for keycap sets. If nothing else, it'll be a good board to try and modify and tweak considering its price.

Thank you!

i have CM Quickfire TK and Ultimate (Red) and i'm not liking it ! i also got KUL (Black)
Right Now i'm using GANSS G.S (Green MX) its in the middle ! better Quality than CM
less price than KUL  both are ABS keycaps tho.... the only problem is that i hate the way they printing keys on GANSS it feels like cheap stickers

stay away from CM

EDITED

My opinion : i don't think Green is good for Driving games your fingers will get tired pretty soon , i use it for Fighting games it's fantastic
try Electro Capacitive or MX Red  :- D
