Bug in current Pok3r firmware?
« on: Sun, 16 August 2015, 05:55:47 »
Hi,

I just found a bug in the current Pok3r firmware: When enabling DIP switch 3 to map FN to CAPSLOCK the PC will not stay in standby mode and immediately wake up again. When disabling DIP-switch 3 the PC will stay in standby mode as it should.

I wonder if someone here owning a Pok3r could confirm this issue, so that I can report it to Vortex.

Using a pok3r too. Having other issues. It's a little disappointing.

Just read your other topic. It seems your Pok3r has an other problem and I would RMA it.

Sleep/standby not working while enabling the DIP switches seems to be a known problem and there are quite a few posts on reddit regarding this issue. Unfortunately no solution has been found yet :'(

I disabled the function for now and hope there will be a reply from Vortex soon. Although I am not counting on it ...

Can't use hibernate instead of sleep? I never understood sleep personally. Comes back after 1-2 seconds, but hibernate comes back in about 10 seconds and completely powers off the system in between.

And if you don't have apps open, boot times are pretty good now.

On OSX, sleep is much better, so I could understand the issues there. Haven't plugged in my Pok3r to either of my MBPs though.

Unfortunately the same issue with hibernate. Instant return to the desktop. My guess is, the sleep/hibernation process gets cancelled before it can complete.

Well, that bites. I used to hibernate my machine all the time (currently converting my bluray collection to h265, so no hibernation for me for a while). Guess I can swap keyboards if I get in the habit again.

Hopefully we'll get an updated firmware.

OK, after tinkering a while I could find sort of a workaround for this issue.

I made a screenshot of the solution and although it was made on a German Windows installation I think the steps are clear.
Powermanagement will be disabled for a bunch of USB nodes and devices which all together seem to resemble the Pok3r in device manager.
Weirdly enough even a mouse device is included.

After applying this workaround you still will be able to wake up your PC with the mouse, only the keyboard wake function will be disabled.
Good enough for me until an official fix is provided by Vortex :thumb:

All glory to FN on Capslock!
