And so it begins..
« on: Wed, 19 August 2015, 14:47:48 »
Hello fellow clackers!

After using my first mechanical keyboard for a while, I realized I cannot type properly on basic rubber domes anymore, so I ended up going deeper in the rabbit hole.. Now I'm happy owner of V60 and if I didn't modify my previous keyboard, I am going all in on this one. Already armed it with some nice double shot vortex keycaps and swapped some switches. I still can't believe how I went straight to modification after owning the board for one day.

I still have great ideas for the board, which I will make sure to share with you guys, but for now,  I'll attach picture of it's current state.

My keyboards:
  • CMStorm XT with Cherry mx browns
  • KBP V60 with Gateron blacks, no LEDs but the hardware and firmware has support for bi-color LED

Willkommen! I totally agree with you on the mod front, to me the best part about KBs is modding them. Imo they're like legos, you have one or two favorite sets that you keep together (your daily drivers) but then the others aren't really fun when they're built, the best thing about them is building and rebuilding them.
demik will never leave.

Unless he gets banned.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Once you find out what is possible, it's almost difficult NOT to modify your keyboard.

Now you get to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
