Is $50 a good price for an F XT?

I've tried to sell mine a few times to people on here and nobody wants to pay that much.  :-\

Seems decent to me for a Model F, as long as you have the time to make whatever modifications you need to.

Aside from a soarers converter or a floss mod with a pad swap, there really isn't much that can be done to an XT.

The pcb has zero unused pads, and all caps aside from the space bar are stepped with center stem, so no layout tweaks without a custom barrel plate and pcb.

That aside they are very nice to type on, and respond to floss mod very nicely.  My XT and my AT have less ping than my wife's Filco with blacks.

What's the difference between the IBM PC-XT keyboard and the original IBM PC keyboard?

I think they're both the same. The XT was just a PC with the optional hard disk.
Check my keyboard video reviews:

I think they're both the same. The XT was just a PC with the optional hard disk.

There are three types of PC/XT keyboards. Externally they are nearly identical, but internally they are a little different.
Type 1 : Has metal connector - internally has a small microcontroller board that separate from the matrix board
Type 2 : The most common one
EMR     : Badge says "EMR Keyboard II". A EM shielded version made long after they stopped making regular PC/XT keyboards.

It really depends. Depending on the condition, $50 shipped is not at all bad. When there's a glut on eBay, they'll go as low as $40-ish, but they'll be untested. And actually, quite often they're less available and sell@ ~$80.
