I think I "obtained" a digital version a few years ago but was super buggy and you couldn't play longer than 10 minutes at a time

Wasn't RCT2 just an updated version of the first game? I only played the first one, that OpenRCT2 looks interesting though.

Gotta show some love for Dungeon Keeper 2 and Theme Hospital. Played the Hell out of those games as a kid. Populous The Beginning as well.

I'm pleasantly surprised at Rollercoaster Tycoon hahaha. I love that game so much and I bought it off GOG or one of those old retro PC game sites a while back. I think that's the first PC game I ever bought. It's so much fun and really soothing somehow.

Part of me was hoping there was going to be Metal Slug in the OP though

RCT2 has more content and is not filled with cowardly visitors like in RCT1. All your crazy and custom rollercoasters were almost completely ignored in RCT1, real buzzkill.

Bruh, THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER.

Jokrik, I spent my childhood playing this game everyday after school, and I even bought the latest one.

Problem is, RCT doesn't actually scale well, and you end up with a tiny tiny window on 1440p or a super stretched-out window.

They gotta come out with a newer one that actually looks and works well on modern PCs. It'd be my favourite game.

Parkitech looks more like a spiritual success of the original RCT1 and RCT2. Man this is really exciting, haha.

There was a metal slug arcade cab at a grille near my house when I was a little kid, and I used to play that, eat grilled cheese or nuggets and watch spongebob on the little tv's. Man I miss those days

Total Annihilation, which finally got a Steam release the other day.

Single player is middling I'm talking about the multiplayer gameplay. Still played today and considering it hasn't been patched since 1998 it's a wonder that it's still so impeccably balanced.

It shouldn't have taken so long for me to find D2:LoD in this thread. While D2:LoD is probably my favorite game ever, D3 definitely takes the cake for the most disappointing game at launch for me as well.

Games that were "genre-changers", either creating them or (re)defining genres. These games were built with so much passion an originality that modern AAA-titles can difficult beat them for me. Including:

- command and conquer (before EA, the dos versions)
- wolf3d, doom, duke 3d
- simcity
- need for speed (1 and 2, and perhaps 3)
- starcraft, warcraft 1+2+3

The music, humor and sarcasm in grim was also quite good. And for the time, graphics were really good if I remember correctly. Like the Queen game.

Earth Orbit Stations

There are a lot of building sim games out there- and ones that deal with space. But none like this one. My favorite thing about EOS in the market. It has a fully modeled financial simulation built in, and you have to watch the news and trends in order to know how the market is going to react, in order to get the funds to finance your space exploration. I stayed up saying one more turn for more nights than I care to admit, and still play it today. I wish someone would do a full remake.
