Hello everyone!
« on: Sat, 26 September 2015, 04:29:41 »
Good {morning | afternoon | evening} everyone!

I am a Swedish CE student on my last year, since a couple of years back I have been fascinated  by mechanical keyboards. I first owned a behemoth of a keyboard, the QPad-MK85 with MX Reds. Later, I owned the the amazing keyboard, the HHKB Pro2. Which died some days ago after a year of usage, by an evil USB port at my University during a lab (where one of my friends Ducky Shine was also a victim of). I had never heard of this community before, I stumbled across it when trying to find a new controller for my hhkb (which I found, hasu has an awesome project going!), I was pleased to see that the community is vibrant and full of awesome people, you have found yourselves a new member!

RIP HHKB, you will rise soon again, more powerful than ever.

Have a nice day!
- Erik

Welcome to Geekhack!

I hope you can fix your HHKB!  Were you cable to claim the cost of repairs from the university?  Especially if their USB port killed more than one keyboard?

Anyway the Qpad is not that big - not when you compare it to, say, a Model M 122 :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
