I know this isn't on par with your $150 Filcos and Duckys, and some of you plain don't like it (and indeed, it seems a bit needy to print the model number in three places), but at 53% off it's worth considering. I've tried a few in stores and they felt good 'n' clicky to me.

That's right, Samir, these were just $45 for Black Friday—quite a deal! When I saw that, I actually emailed Best Buy to ask them if the particular boards they were selling had blue or brown switches. But it took their offshore support staff 3 days to answer me—to tell me that they didn't know, and that I should "call Logitech"—and by then the sale was over.

I later learned the earlier G710+'s were the ones with browns. (This doesn't explain why Logitech released the G710+ first and then the G710.)

Since I posted here, I've read complaints about the stems breaking on the Ctrl keys on these. There's a thread about it here on Logitech's support site.

I suspect this is happening to gamers who are mashing their keys and, in their haste, hitting Ctrl at an angle. And Logitech's being very good about sending out replacements. However, if I got one of these and expected to give it some serious use, I think I'd be proactive and reinforce the Ctrl stems—e.g. by using a bit of JB-Weld or 2-part epoxy to glue a few loops of thin, uninsulated wire around them, lightly sanding them first to improve adhesion.

I was eyeing the 710 series for a while as Best Buy was doing weekend price slashing on these, and it was terribly confusing as to why there was a 710 and 710+.  Finally after about 2hrs of google searches, I found a thread where someone mentioned the brown and blue.  I then knew the 710 regular was the one I wanted to close in on. 

If it wasn't for the great deal on it, I wouldn't have bought it as it's not a great value at normal pricing--there's better products for just a little more.

Perhaps, but KBs are a very subjective thing. You can put identical switches into two boards and they'll feel and sound entirely different.

I really like the G710 at NCIX here. I go in and type on it every time I'm in the neighbourhood.

Don't think that ONLY Filco's rule the world of Mechanical Keyboards because they don't, even though I've got lots of them.

I'll have to double check this when I get back to mine, but I believe they're Cherry (if that's the non-wire stab--I only read about the two types once so I may have them mixed up).

That being said, I just tried a TVS Gold I just purchased here in India and the blues in that seem to feel a lot more consistent than the 710 in terms of actuation point.  Not sure why yet, just had the keyboard for 30 minutes now.

A few years ago I bought a Black Widow Ultimate (MX Blues) from Frys, and while I liked the switches, I never could adjust to the placement of the macro keys. Then, a few months later I bought a Filco with Browns and ended up returning it because I just didn't like the way the switches felt. Fast forward a couple of years down the road, I stopped in to Best Buy and tried the G710+ with O-rings, and I have to say the O-rings really made all the difference in the world. It feels like a different switch to me.

I'm rather with you on the visual design. If I ever get one, I may take the case top off, rub it down with some mild abrasive (e.g. automotive primer polish) and spray it with some dark-coloured paint formulated for plastics like ABS. Or maybe even one of those marble-pattern paints. I'm serious. Buh ha ha.

That said, the Blues do have a more pronounced bump and an audible click, so you may like them more than the Browns after all.

I think this shows us the value of avoiding prejudice. A KB's looks may not be your particular thing, but it may feel fantastic. And really, when you're typing, are you looking at the board? You shouldn't be. In fact, if you don't particularly like how a board looks, it could actually be an advantage, because you're less likely to look down at it. I may start dating unattractive women, for the same reason.

For me, it's not just the macro keys but the shape of the board itself. The G710+ was cheaper than what I'd pay for a Filco, but personally I like the simple board design of something like a Filco or RealForce 104U.

Well, I mean, I can't look at the exterior of my car when I'm driving but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the way it looks when I'm not. Likewise, I tend to look at my keyboard just as I would any decorative item in a room when I'm passing through or around it. I tend to think that's fairly common. I mean, there's a lot of stuff I don't pay attention to when I'm using it, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a nice form factor when I'm not.

That said, the Blues do have a more pronounced bump and an audible click, so you may like them more than the Browns after all.

It's definitely not a bad keyboard to spray down and change, although if you remove the blue accent on the left, there's nothing else that's really too gaudy about it.

Very good point about the prejudice.  I thought the cherry blues in the 710 were what blues felt like--until I felt them in the tvs e-gold.  Now I realize that a switch is even different when on different boards--just like how there's some variation in each type of buckling spring board.

I'm not sure about the unattractive women though, lol.

Honestly a decent keyboard for the price. I would compare it to a Blackwidow Ultimate (pre kailh of course, since these are real MX Blues) in terms of quality. For $60 it's a hard price to beat nowadays since I haven't seen a QFR under $50 for ages now. I got my G710 for $40 on BF this year, which is one of the best prices I've seen for a backlit keyboard. If only it was TKL/60%........

Yep, the price has come up from the BF and other sales.  I was lucky enough to get mine during that time period.  Prior to that, the cheapest I saw it was for $65.

It's actually a heavy board, which is one of the things that surprised me.  Aside from the switches and keycaps, the rest of the board is built quite tightly.
