So...umm..about these MX blacks vs Nature Whites...
« on: Tue, 22 December 2015, 18:00:29 »
Let's see.
MX black on Ducky Shine 69 requires 16 nickels to bottom out.

Nature White on Shine 5 requires *17* nickels to bottom out.
Needs 1 more nickel than MX black.
16 nickels leaves a few mm of play left where it rebounds slightly (repeatedly).

Yeah baby.
FOUND MY MINI-GREYS!

Note: my MX green on the Shine 69's Z key also bottoms out at 16 nickels.

WTF? No wonder I thought the Nature Whites were more stiff than I thought they'd be. Aren't these supposed to be rated at 55g, though? While the blacks are 65?

Well the bottom out could be higher than normal, is the actuation right(55g IIRC)?

Actuation on Nature White is 55g, and MX Black is 60g. 55G might be Gateron Black.

I'm glad you did this test and I caught it. That sufficiently satiates my curiosity regarding them. I moved away from MX blacks due to fatigue by modifiers in longer gaming sessions, so nature white sounds like it would be worse.

Could it be new spring vs old spring?  Because Nature White is suppose to be inbetween weight between MX Red and MX Black.

So this seems a bit odd....

Archiss ProgresTouch Retro - Gateron Yellow  |  Topre Realforce 104UW - 45g Silent  |  Topre Type Heaven  |  Beige Filco Ninja 104 - MX Red  |  Das Keyboard - MX Brown  |  Poker II - MX Red  |  Race II - MX Brown  |  Matias Quiet Pro - Matias Dampened ALPS  |  Logitech K840 - Romer G  |  Cherry MX Board 2.0 - MX Red  |  Cherry G84-4100 - ML  |  IBM Model M
Roccat Kone Pure  |  Logitech G203  |  Logitech G303  |  Logitech G302  |  Razer Naga  |  CM Storm Xornet  |  Razer Goliathus Mobile Stealth  |  Razer Goliathus Control  |  Artisan Hien  |  Artisan Hayate  |  Artisan Shiden

Not sure the "nickel test" is a reliable way to test resistance. I have a Ducky Shine 5 with Nature Whites myself, and the keys require anything from 12 to 17 nickels, depending on the key. =/

I know this is a relatively old thread, but this thread worries me a little, and was just wondering if there is anymore information on the Nature Whites now that there is more time they have been out in the wild.

How are the Nature Whites comparing to the Reds and Blacks with similar spring age?

I am currently choosing between red and nature whites for gaming as i think the black are a little too heavy, but with this thread has me worried that the white are just as heavy, even though they are rated at less force required?

Thanks Guys!
