Help my electronics survive the winter chill...
« on: Sat, 02 January 2016, 06:08:41 »
I don't know where to post this but I need help,

My job won't let me bring in metal electronics (metal detectors) so I have to leave them in my car. My cell phone and vape are freezing up and running odd due to the cold. I'm looking for a solution to keeping them warm while in my cold ass car. Is there any future technology I could buy like a warm box or something to prevent my devices from freezing over? Help me geekhack your my only hope

Maybe take a towel or a jumper or something with you? Wrap them up in it and that should keep them warmer for longer. Avoid contact with other plastic/metal surfaces, and if you have leather seats, I would keep them off them too.

I would recommend a hand warmer, but it might get a bit too hot unless you wrap that in it's own individual hand towel or t shirt before putting it in with the rest of it.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Coolers can keep things warm too bro. Throw in a warm rice thingy and you're golden.

Or move to Florida
I'm back.

I'd say double up, get an insulated lunch bag (or any insulated bag really), put your vape & phone in there, then put that inside a small sealed cooler. Should keep them moderately warm, at least enough for them not to be freezing.

Turn items off, maybe warm them up in your pocket before using them.

Thanks for the input... Seriously haha

I'm gonna try the cooler with rice packs that can hopefully last me, really great idea.

Yeah I'm bummed about the cell phone, but my vape is freezing which is the worse part. I need my nicotine!
