is cherry mx black good ?

i come from membrane keyboard,logitech k120

i will buy mechanical keyboard (gamdias gkb2000)
but sadly my local store only sell cherry mx black switch version,
(they don't have any mechanical sample)

here my question
compared to logitech k120 membrane keyboard,

1. is cherry mx more heavier or more lighter than logitech k120?
2. which one faster rebound,cherry mx black or logitech k120?

If you have time get gateron black and mod it or just get some vintage black and mod it
My personal experience is pretty good so smooth if you can mod it

They are linear (no bump, no click) and fairly heavy.

Some people complain that they get tired fingers after long typing sessions on MX blacks.

Really it's up to you whether you like these switches.

Coming from a membrane keyboard, almost any mechanical keyboard will be so much better than what you are used to

I started with cherry blacks coming from a rubber membrane keyboard and an apple scissor switch keyboard. It is a great feeling linear switch in my opinion. I immediately understood the appeal of mechanical keyboard from the first moment I tried it. Membrane keyboards have tactile feedback in the form of a bump feel. These will not have that bump. I'm not familiar with how much force it takes to press a Logitech membrane switch but I'm pretty sure it is fairly heavy to begin with. So if it's the only thing holding you back from getting this keyboard then I don't think you will have too much of a problem. Ask them to open a box and try it out a bit in store if they don't have a display model. And tell them they would sell a hell of a lot more mechanical keyboards if they did have a display haha

I don't have any vintage Cherries that I know of, thus is true. I hope one day I get to test the whole new vs vintage Cherry rumour properly .

glad hear your answer so whatever cherry mx switch we choose still more better than logitech membrane keyboard right?

many people said black is worst because require much force (inffective)
,and another say red worst because they're too light and we can't rest our hand onto it because they registered easily(my habbit )
and another say brown is bad because the tactile bump is annoying
and another say blue is too noisy and we can't enjoyly double tapping on it (i need mechanical keyboard which good at double tapping)

Uhhh, I weigh 80 kg but I can't imagine you'd be asking for that .

Cherry MX Black is the most common switch in mechanical gaming keyboards. If you can find a mechanical keyboard on a shelf to try out, it is most often with Cherry MX Black switches.

As a newbie, do ignore the people screaming about modifying your keyboard with Gaterons or lube or whatever. You want "Keyboard 101", not the "Advanced class".

Anything will beat a K120.

I have a K120 and a Leopold FC750R with MX Black.

1. MX Blacks feel a little heavier than the K120.

2. The rebound is about the same, but I think MX Black is faster because it has a longer key travel.

Please do not use cooking oil. Use a proper lubricant, such as Krytox 103GPL. I plan on getting some Geekhackers V3 Lube (thin) from ZealPC soon.

Anyways, I quite like MX Blacks. A tad heavier than normal rubber dome keyboards. It will feel scratchy at first but once they are worn in they become much better. I wouldn't worry about vintage/modding stuff yet but we are here when/if you want to learn more

This isn't an easy hobby.
You'll need time to understand keycap profiles, switches, layouts, pcbs, controller, plates, stabilizers, etc. if you want to mod stuff and get non-standard switches like Gaterons.
Take your time and take it easy at the beginning.
MX Blacks were my first switch. Even though it is not the most refined or the most interesting switch, it's a very solid switch for starters.
I would suggest you to buy a MX Black keyboard.

using engine lubricant is okay?

i will buy that keyboard (cherry mx black) on next month ,if it make me uncomfortable, how to trick it so they will be more smoother and lighter?

If you have to buy local, buy white lithium grease, but make sure it is a variant designated safe for use on plastics. It should be widely available at local hardware stores.

You do not want to use something that that is corrosive to plastic and will eat away at it over time. Lubrication used for machinery will be a bad choice.

I don't think this is something you should even pursue until you have a keyboard and have used it for awhile.

I would sooner use most keyboards that come free with a computer than a board with Cherry Blacks. And I'm not exaggerating here.

OP, keyboard choice is very personal, the collective wisdom or opinion of the internet isn't much use here. You either just bite the bullet and take your chances on a new keyboard experience, or just forget about it.

Forget about lubing or other mods for now, that's really going over the top for a first time experience, it won't make you like or dislike the basic board any more or less.
