I did the full drive from NYC>PDX and drove through the gorge, amazing.  Some of the best sights the whole trip...  The Freeze huh?  That's interesting for sure -- I'll watch out for it.  So far I love the PNW.  Everyone is so nice that at first (coming from mostly angry east coast cities), I thought it was fake.  It's nice to be in such a progressive environment.  Thanks for the warm welcome!

Lol.  I was a bike messenger for 7 long years between Pittsburgh and Philly.  So no, that would be Pabst (unless the bartender was pouring free).  I'm all grown up now though (and much fatter).

What keyboard/s have you got?

Right now I have a Poker, Pure, Keycool 84 and I'm working on piecing together a RedScarf 96 until the Lightsaver v3 arrives at my door sometime in 2017 **??**.  Fact is I've been a lurker on GH for a while now, but never really had much to post about, so I figured I'd finally introduce myself.


Think that about covers it... So yeah, good to be here and finally posting.  Thanks again for all your replies!  I'm also big into the Hackintosh scene, custom PC's (duh), rebuilding mopeds into 2 stroke racing motorcycles, design, art, cycling, punk rock and deathmetal.  Of course the first custom keyboard I saw caught my eye and I've turned to yet another subculture-based obsession.  Yep.

Pure is red - waiting on 7Bit caps and acrylic case, Poker is blue w/ Dolche and lipless alum case and KeyCool is brown - stock keycaps (just joined the selectric GB).  I placed an order on TaoBao, bravely all by myself with no agent for the RSIII kit and I'm trying to get clears (or in China "Milky") sent with it. We've been going back and forth about it though and sounds like it might come with browns.  I'm kinda all over the place.  I like to use a switch for a while then go to another one to remember why I like them all for different reasons.  Besides, it doesn't make any sense to me to own multiple keyboards that all have the same feel right?


With Google Translate doing the TaoBao thing isn't all that hard by yourself in the interest of saving money.  I even translate the images that won't translate in Chrome with the mobile Google Translate app where you can upload a pic of the text.  Works really well actually.  In fact, now that I think about it all my boards have either come from China or Singapore. 


Never been bricked by an Apple update.  If you know what you're doing and do your research, Hackintoshes can be pretty bulletproof.  100% up and running on El Capitan 10.11.3 machine with a 6-core 4.7Ghz 5930K, 2 980 Ti's, 32Gb of 3000Mhz DDR4, an nVME 950 Pro triple boot (Linux Mint, Win 10 and OS X).  The only problem I've run into in the past 6 years (since converting to Hackintosh from real Mac) is that I bought a 5960X (8 core i7) at release without any research and while it had stellar performance under Yosemite, El Capitan wouldn't boot.  Something to do with the CPUID and ACPI Tables.  I simply sold it for what I paid and bought the 6-core.  A pretty depressing problem but I'm over it.  I don't pick teams when it comes to operating systems, but all my mobile hardware is all Apple.  At the desk I want power, and the only way to do that is build it yourself.

A good idea to have different switches in your keyboards.  I'm all over the place too - MX blue, red, black, green, buckling springs, Topre and even some NEC blue oval switches.  And MX clears.

Your rig was probably 1/10 the price of an equivalent Apple, not that you could get an equivalent Apple )  My main computer is a Mac, my games PC is Windows-based, and my servers mostly run Linux.  So pretty OS agnostic here too
