Hellllllloooooooo!
« on: Mon, 22 February 2016, 19:57:51 »
Hi GH!,

Recently I was recommended to show up here from reddit, I go by the same username here as I do there.
Ive been into mechs for quite a while and have decided to start producing my own keycaps.

Heres my first keycap http://imgur.com/a/jZfKr

I hope I can soon find a place here and become one with the community.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Those caps are great!  What generation are they, as in how many tries did you have before they came out that well?

And you make blanks too - neat :)

Are these all MX?  Any plans to make Topre, Alps or BS keycaps?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

these are my first keycap, I started in early february, Ive only had to do two sculpts before casting adn they came out well basically first try, though I am going to make/buy a pressure pot and Vacuum pot to produce my next caps.
The blanks were just test things, but Im giving them away with some orders on reddit, mostly becasue the casts are so fine that
the 0) on the key shows up, but I just bought a bunch of GMK stuff to produce blanks and new aritsans (without any letters showing up on the final product)

Whoa!  If that's your first try, I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
