Hello from Germany!
« on: Tue, 01 March 2016, 15:54:53 »
Hi there,

I am pretty new to the mechanical keyboard community. But so far I love everything about it :D

I bought myself a Qisan MagicForce 68 Keyboard with Gateron Blue switches. Just yesterday I upgraded it with cherry MX compatible keycaps from a old Triumph Adler 7007L typewriter and I think it looks gorgeous ;)

I also started to design my own 3D printable keycaps right away. Four mayan themed keycaps for now but I plan on doing more.

Cheers!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Another keyboard I haven't heard of, the Qisan MagicForce 68!

Sometimes greeting new members it seems that everyone has a Pok3r, or every has an HHKB.  Today it seems everyone has a different keyboard :))

There is actually a review of the Qisan MagicForce 68 here.  Sounds like an interesting keyboard, a mostly positive review.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Hey. thank you both for welcoming me :)

I originally bought the MagicForce smart with LED backlight and black switches for my brother as a birthday gift.
I thought I could use a new keyboard myself so I got myself the non backlit version with blue switches.

I somehow got sucked into this  :))

I definitely want to try out a Pok3r or HHKB sometime. I am also lurking around on garage sales, thriftshops and such, haha.

And yep, I (apparently) am the mayan keycap guy. I designed them for fun and got so much positive responses on reddit, that I went on and made them available on shapeways in my little shop :)

I am designing a new keycap right now as a matter of fact  ;D

Ohhhh, I saw your post on the r/keycapdesigners thread, very nice  ;D Welcome! I'm looking forward to seeing more of those casts you're making using 3D printed masters  :thumb:

Pok3r and HHKB are two of the most popular 60% keyboards.  You won't go wrong with either of them.
