Hello from Florida!
« on: Mon, 07 March 2016, 11:18:10 »
Hello everyone!

I've been a long time lurker and occasional poster for a while now so I figured that it was time I properly introduced myself. I found this hobby a couple of years ago and I've been slowly building my collection of boards.

I have:
Corsair K70 (Reds w/ stock caps)
KBP v60 (Clears w/ DCS Midnight)
Novatouch (GMK Hyperfuse)
Leopold FC660C (stock w/ KK artisans)

The FC660C has been my daily driver since I got it; I love this thing! I got the Novatouch for work so I can enjoy different keysets and topre. In the future I think I'll be looking into getting a Realforce 87U 55g and perhaps building a Winkeyless B.87 or B.face  :thumb:

Thanks for taking the time to read, I look forward to chatting with you all. Have a good day!

Welcome. FC660 has a dope layout for a one-piece board. If I was going to buy a Topre board I'd get that.

There are a lot of Orlando / central FL people. We're trying to plan a Florida meetup.

Post here if you're interested:

Welcome to GH!  You have a great collection of boards, and I hope you enjoy your stay here.

What part of Orlando do you live in?  There are a couple of members in town.
I'm back.

Thanks, I hope so too! I'm on the East side in Oviedo actually. I'm glad that this part of the Florida has so many people who like mechs, it's pretty cool! What about yourself, whereabouts in Orlando are you located?

Hi, welcome! I'm from central Florida, I just use Orlando, FL as an approximate local for my GH presence  :p So many FL folks! Oh, wait, and you've already been introduced to Topre? Lovely

Topre has been my favorite switch so far! I'm definitely going to try 55g domes in the future  :thumb:

Awesome, that sounds great! That's crazy that you're so close, I suppose I should expect it with a community this large though. I'd definitely be down for an Orlando / UCF meetup!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Bitten by the Topre bug - have you got any plans to get an HHKB?

55g Topre is said to be the best Topre experience (outside of an HHKB, that is).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thank you! I have indeed been bitten and it feels good haha

I have considered it yes but first I am really looking to try 55g domes. There's something about the layout of the FC660C that I love, if it turns out I like 55g domes I may even try and transplant them into this board. The HHKB has such a great design though and I hear it just feels really nice to type on so I'll have to try one out sometime, whenever I can get to a meet up!

If you decide to check out topre 55g switches before a meet up I'd check out Ebay. The product ships from Iowa so you won't have to wait 30 days + to receive it.
Ebay - Realforce Topre 55g Switch Tester Keychain
You could always sell them or swap for stuff in the future  ;)

I'm very tempted to grab one of those, one to see what it's like and two because it would be fun to press throughout the day :D

Unfortunately the only place to get 55g domes is a 55g RealForce keyboard :(
