Yeah sorry about the unintentional ****posting... Therefore I will leave this here.

Just a question, dont the mods have archives of his wikis? or do they just not want to be disrespectful?

The mods removed all his wiki information as per his direct request (and threat of legal action). There would be no reason to keep archives of the data.

I thought the Wiki was just completely deleted by r00tworm?
No, he demanded that it be removed, on threat of legal action.
Because the mods banned him so they could steal the content. Which is a bull**** move and I could see why rip was mad.
Oh come on demik, you know that's bull****. I know you love rippy and hate the mods here, but you can't seriously defend his actions during that time. He baited the mods to force their hands, and iMav made the decision to permaban. It's that simple.

I love ripster? lol nah. Do I think how butt hurt he gets and gh gets is funny? Yes. I'm not excusing **** he did. I'm saying I understand why he's mad. Ripster is an *******, there is no doubt about it. And gh went down to his level when they banned him only to steal his content. KAWA LITERALLY SAID "IM GOING TO BAN HIM. TAKE ALL THE CONTENT YOU CAN".

My hate for mods has zero to do with this, why bring it up?
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

I highly doubt this was the case. And in regards to a true 'wiki', it's public domain.

I was a mod when it was happening. And kawa was the lead "I'm going to ban him, let's take all the content we can" dude. Even if the wiki is public domain ( and ripster did take **** and no credit it either) I was a stupid decision.

IMO at least.

If this was the case, then it should have been a 'let's hate this person and this person for banning me', not 'I hate geekhack as a whole'. But yeah, a true wiki is not personal property, but an open source sharing of information.

Any rational person gets that. But this is ripster we are dealing with. Don't expect too much from dude.

Oh that's rich, with how much he talks **** about artisans wanting to protect their IP.

To be specific he sent an email to iMav[1] indicating he was rescinding his CC-BY licensing on his images (which is actually non-revocable [2]) and invoked the DMCA.

Would anything really happen if he did go through with the DMCA? Everyone has already said how a wiki is public domain. And its just one user (who explicitly violated site ToS) against the entire ****ing forum? what does it matter if it was posted anyways? Yea its a real douchebag move to steal his content, but its not like the forum is supporting illegitament products for monetary gain (ahem, MiTo). And again, its public domain right??

I imagine it just wouldn't have been worth it, if he was true to his word about filing legal action. Legal fees add up quickly.

Technically ripster committed copyfraud by issuing a false DMCA notice since CC-BY is non-revokable meaning GH had a valid license. Copyfraud is a criminal offense so if iMav wanted the headache he could have pursued the matter.

The reality is there was nothing to gain by doing so, and rootworm had destroyed the wiki anyway.

Just remember kids: licenses have terms, and summoning the DMCA Demons should not be done lightly.

Feels like the ripster thingy should be a sticky... Gets asked like once a week
I think that's ripster's plan.

Every time his name is mentioned his spirit lives on a little longer.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
