SGI Granite KB problem
« on: Mon, 04 April 2016, 16:24:03 »
Hey all,

Newbie here with an sgi granite kb problem. I bought the thing new on ebay; came without a cable. Took a look at the port and guessed its for a ps/2 cable. Bought one, hooked up it and no response. However the keyboard is getting power because I can hear a little click noise (coming from some internal soundchip) that goes off on a keypress.

It's not responding in windows however, the capslock led doesn't even turn on when toggled.

Any ideas as to what I'm missing? Posting photos below

What's the model number? There are different models of the SGI granite and all are not PS/2. The most common ASCII PS/2 model has an attached cable.

See the DT article...

Ah well that clears things up. I have the model that isn't PS/2 compatible. Looks like I'll need to track down an SGI cable.. if I can figure out what that is exactly..

You'll need to convert it, a cable won't help. Currently no off the shelf converters exist. TMK has the solution however.

Have a PS/2 Granite, good luck!

Sorry to say but I am mistaken from April. I remember Hasu talked about this but a converter isn't currently available from him or elsewhere. I think possible get a Dell Bigfoot and combine the two together to make one good board however.
