Can this Wyse keyboard be adapted to work on a PC?
« on: Sun, 20 December 2009, 17:13:48 »
http://cgi.ebay.com/WYSE-900128-01-MODEL-WY60-ASCII-KEYBOARD_W0QQitemZ310126660788QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4834fd4cb4

I've heard that these Wyse terminal keyboards have black Cherry switches. I like their yellow arrow keys, and am considering getting one. However, before I make that decision, does anyone know if these can be adapted to work on the average PC?

Any help will be appreciated!

I got one of those the other day. It will be my first project to convert using the Korean AIKON Controller. However, getting one of those is very hard.

I don't know what other choices there are to convert it. In either case it won't be easy and will likely require a ton of soldering.

Maybe I'll get one for those yellow arrow keys. For a conversion project, however, I think I will get an old 122-key Model F.

Cherry blacks. From what I've seen there might have been some versions with blues too.. but 99% seems to be Cherry MX black.

The WY60 is a terminal keyboard and definitely _not_ PC-compatible.  As others have pointed out, you'd need some controller based converter to hook it up to a PC.  The material feels awesome though.

Maybe I'll get one of those someday and put in the innards of another keyboard.

I like this variant, with it's Model F-esque 'hat' keys, and gazillion-pin DIN connector.
