Tuppence/Toppins - too funny.  I had no idea of the correct spelling but now British currency is less confusing to me.  How many farthings is a Topre board?  (I do realize farthings are no longer currency.)

And in case you're wondering what the absolute worst band name in history is, they are called "Six Pence None The Richer"  they actually edged out "Wolf Mother" and the less well known "The Poo Sticks"

I can remember when a sixpence was two and a half pence. Thank God we decimalised. (Though that might have actually been the cause of the confusion at the time.)

Yes, it was.

Before decimalisation, there were 20 shillings in a pound, and 12 pence in a shilling, so 6 pence was half a shilling - sixpence.

After decimalisation, a pound was 100 new pence, so a shilling was 5 new pence, and thus the old sixpence coin, half a shilling, had a value of 2 1/2 new pence.

A Geekhacker would NEVER stoop to this.

Gimmicks are fine as long as the rest is sound - a HHKB with purple WASD keys or a Filco with a red Esc still is a good board. My point is that regular "consumer crap" boards have that backwards - gimmicks first, actual function second. It's a good way of making money (and wasting resources) for sure, but not one that would yield a good keyboard.

I think we can let this thread die now.

I agree. That one song they play is/was pretty cool. It's been used in so many movie trailers I can't even count.

I have nothing against their music, just always thought the band name was annoying.

Yeah, the name is pretty bad. The song reminds me of natalie imbruglia, whose name also strikes me as odd. Then again she's hot, and so is the six pence chick, so they both get a pass.

Well,

USD228 = GBP142.81.

142.81 x 960 farthings to pound = 137102 farthings.

It could be worse.  It's 272,761 little tin 1-won coins

I play this whenever I want to drive my teenage son nuts.

I would have though some 2unlimited would do the trick a little better, but for total teenage angst, there is always Aqua's Barbie Girl. If that doesn't cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth, nothing will. If it causes his head to start bobbing along with it, you've gone too far and he's comatose, or you need to start worrying about his taste in music.

Well, you guys are kinda close....

New Braunfels, TX - funny, I have some distant relatives there. I remember the song, too - must have been when I was like 18.

Then there is 90's Northern European pop:

I play this whenever I want to drive my teenage son nuts.

Oh dear, talk about a throwback to childhood days. I was 12 then and remember that song pretty well. It's OK for kids without all too much English knowledge I guess...

That tops them all, no doubt. Boy, what crap. And I sorta remembered the song, too.

Hey, a-ha's debut album from '85 is pretty good actually. The Take On Me rotoscoping video is legendary anyway.

That'll do them in.

Cameo made some pretty good '80s funk. Heard this one before, save for the video it's not bad. Their best-known song might be "Candy". /da local funkateer :p

Tsk, tsk. Flash in the primary browser...

Since I was mentioning a-ha's debut, what about a good video for a song released a year earlier?
