Hello GH!
« on: Fri, 03 June 2016, 10:21:05 »
Currently Tokyo based - I think I just started down a deep deep rabbit hole. Got my first board recently after discovering Keyboard Hell in Hong Kong and having the owner give me close to an hour long introduction to this beautiful and expensive world of mechanical keyboards.

Currently running a Leopold FC750 with Cherry blues and I got a FC660M to be a little more portable... and finally broke down and got the Dolch key cap set.

Having a blast learning all about PBT's, ABS, doubleshots, browns, reds, I think my wallet is going to take a bit of a hit, but glad I'll be doing it along side all of you!

I'm not so sure this is a hole as much as it is a tunnel. Where does it lead? Does it ever end? Who knows.

I will now observe a moment of silence for your wallet.

Finally, and most importantly, welcome to GH!

Hello, welcome to the forum! This hobby can be a bit of a rabbit hole. It's fun though. Getting to choose a new board, switch type and colour combo is a lot of fun.
Biking is fun.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Yes, this is a very deep rabbit hole.  It's amazing how much there is to keyboards that most people simply have no idea of.

If you're worried about spending too much, have a read of this thread.

An hour should have barely scratched the surface - have a look at some of the threads in the recommended reading thread - that should help to fill in some of the gaps :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Thanks guys!

Currently observing a long long moment of silence for my wallet. Just took a look at the wallet hacking thread and checking off a few more points there then I would like. And rowdy, don't know whether to thank you or be mad at you right now... going to get back into my cave and start reading!  :p

Be mad at me now, and thank me later on when your wallet starts to breathe again :)
