New guy

Hello there,
Well, I'm new to this forum, and also good keyboards. Today was my first real, in-depth experience with one, thanks to a co-worker. I've had a minor interest in good keyboards for awhile, and after today am going to take some small steps on my first build. Hurray! I have a pretty good group of people at work that I can test drive different boards, which will be helpful for me. Looking forward to spending (probably too much) time here. Someone hide my wallet, please.

Welcome to the forum! It's great that you have access to all of those keyboards to try out. When Bought my keyboard I only had online reviews to go on. Ended up with a ducky shine 3 with red switches. I still think I'd like brown switches better though. There's a ton of info around here if you're looking to build a board. The making stuff together section is pretty handy.
Biking is fun.

I entirely intend on using this forum as I do my build(s). I'm getting in on the Massdrop CM Novatouch to start. I used a keyboard with the Torpe switches all day today. While sometimes I really likely clicky, I was really liking the smoothness of that setup on an HHKB. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what keycaps I want on that that board... and with the careful guidance of one of my co-workers, will be going through lubing all of it, and putting hyperspheres on it as well. Should be a fun first build... it'll be the keyboard that lives at work, and eventually I'll decide on what to build for home!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Seconded your luck in getting to try a number of keyboards before your first purchase.  I tried the only one available around here - a Razor, and then joined GH.  A few queries later led me to buy a Ducky Shine with MX blues, which I actually rotated back into use earlier today.

The Novatouch feels quite different to HHKB, so I hear.  Is it the bare-bones Novatouch on Massdrop?  You'll need a good set of keycaps to go with it.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
