Power surges usually fry things properly - does it smell bad?

No bad smell. There was no indication that anything was fried until I plugged in the USB and got the error "Power surge on hub port. A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port."

That's good - the computer noticed a problem and tried to stop it so you're probably fine.

That message usually means you have a short but without knowing the schematic of the hub it's hard to say if it's the hub itself or whatever you plugged in to it.

I did try the PCB on another computer and got the same results, which leads me to believe it's a problem with the PCB.

Oh so it's complaining when you plug the PCB straight into the computer port?  Yes that's a PCB/cable problem.  Most commonly seen when someone uses a TRS cable between Ergodox halves instead of a TRRS...

That looks fine.  Have you tried the cable in something else to be sure it's the PCB?

Other than that I guess more details can't hurt - what PCB is it?  Did you do something abnormal to it (adding LEDs to a board that came with none)?

Could also be shorting to the case, if that's metal?  Try it out of the case if you haven't already.

The cable is fine. I tried it with another keyboard and there are no problems.

It's an Octagon V2. I added 1.8mm LEDs but that shouldn't be an issue. There was one LED connection that wasn't working. I tested the LED so it wasn't the LED itself. I reflowed the joints, tried again, and got the error.

It's not in a case yet. The metal in the picture is the plate.

Did not fry PCB. There was an LED with defective pads that was somehow creating a short. Desoldered that LED and functionality returned. So I just have no LED on my left Ctrl. Oh well.
