Hiya from TN, just got my first Mechanical Keyboard.
« on: Sat, 06 August 2016, 23:07:19 »
o/ Hello all. Christian here, I just got this bad boy (might as well start from the bottom)

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Ajazz-AK33-Backlight-Mechaincal-Gaming-Keyboard-Alloy-Base-75-82-Keys-Zorro-MX-Blue-Black-USB/914660_32468633257.html

I'm wanting to get a keycap set or two and am not sure where to start looking. I tried searching "82 keycap sets" and not much came up. I'm also interested in picking up some 3D printed or artisan keycaps as well. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Oooo there's lots of non-standard size keycaps on that keyboard :(  That will make finding a replacement keycap set much more difficult, unfortunately.

There are a few 3D printed keycaps around, but most artisans tend to hand-carve theirs and/or use some sort of injection molding.

Your best bet is to have a look through the media section and see if any artisans catch your eye.  Then look for upcoming sales in the respective sub-forum in the artisan services section.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada
