ISO Wanted

Hi!

I used to be nuts about mechanical keyboards and somehow they just disappeared and were ignored a long time ago... I kinda gave up finding the right one after owning around 40 different keyboards.
7 years ago i just settled for the apple full size keyboard to keep me from buying more mechanical ones.

I just discovered all this movement for mechanical keyboards, it seems i missed when it started... :/

Anyway... I am hard wired to use the extra key of the split left shift on an iso layout and currently looking if there are any great 40/60/65% iso kits (or PCBs with fitting front plate) or assembled keyboards (pok3r 3 iso for example) available that feature the split left shift extra key.

I don't tend to follow ISO keyboards much, living in an ANSI world :p

If the LeandreN doesn't float your boat, maybe try asking in the simple questions thread.

There kind of was an explosion of mechanical keyboards about 3 years ago.  Just before that there were maybe half a dozen good modern mechanical keyboards around.  Then suddenly everyone started making them.  Now we're spoiled for choice.  Unless you're looking for a particular ISO layout, although support for different ISO layouts in keyacp sets is gradually improving!

Not much spoiling here though... I would, right now, buy a planck, jd45, and a whitefox... I'd drop that money right now on all 3 just to mess around with them.

But I can't, it's very frustrating. I wouldn't mind even just getting the PCB and solder it together myself but even that seems impossible... :/

Make me wonder why there isn't one company that just keeps all of them in stock, you know, to make money from it :)

The JD45 and probable WhiteFox are designed by enthusiasts in the mechanical keyboard community.  As such they tend to be made available in limited batches.

I guess the creators of each one could sell a batch to a commercial vendor to keep in stock, but many commercial vendors would be hesitant because that are not brand name keyboards.

I'm going with M2 screws but I'm not sure if the padding (8mm) and edge spacing (7mm) is good...
